Reconnecting

I've spent the past few weeks visiting a lot with family back home in Mississippi. Getting back to my roots is very important for me and I always make time for it. Eating, drinking, and visitin' with family and, as always, retelling old stories. I love stories and enjoy hearing them told by family, especially older family members, over and over and over again. I hope that you have good experiences with your family but I know there are many, many folks who have poor family relationships. May I encourage you to do your best, with God's help, to mend those relationships. Don't wait for others to do it but do everything within your power and pray for God's help to take care of what you cannot do yourself. There's nothing on this earth more important than family relationships and developing deep family roots. Those roots plus God will get you through anything life has to throw at you.

Have a blessed day!

Most of my family relationships are fairly normal, but some of them do vex me. You're right. Sometimes relationships are out of our hands. Nothing we can do on our own will bring us closer to the people we love, who will not return that love.

My dad's side of the family hails from southern Missouri, and their tales of old are amazing. The whole bunch of them are born storytellers with a great sense of family!

Great post; good reminders for all of us.

I'm from Christian Writers.com, and just stopped by to say "hey!"
